Bringing calm to the chaos and energy to the issues that matter, Mike Mrowicki of Putney announces his campaign for re-election to the Vermont House of Representatives, representing the Windham 4 District of Putney and Dummerston.
Affordability and Education/Tax Reform remain top-tier concerns for Mrowicki. "I support the House Ed Reform plan, which puts kids first, controls costs, and listens to local voices. The Governor's plan to force top-down consolidation into five districts statewide, without local input, is not what Vermonters want — and there are no models that show it saves money. Republican policies that have led to the highest gas and heating oil prices in years also need to be recognized for their effect on affordability.”
Housing, health care, and a healthy environment with clean air and water are also priorities. Mrowicki will continue working on. Reproductive Rights as well, as these issues remain under threat from the current President and his fellow Republicans.
Standing up to the Trump administration is also necessary at this time. Trump’s actions starting a senseless war are hurting Vermont directly, with erratic behavior that increases costs for families struggling to pay for gas and home heating. The cost of tariffs is hitting American families at a rate of $1,300 per year. Businesses, schools, and town budgets are feeling the strain from these Republican policies.
"In a time when it’s hard to separate the national from local issues, because of the Trump chaos leaking down onto the states, I will work hard to try and limit the Trump damage to Vermont. Especially so, to help families make sure they stay warm this winter and can afford to get to work. I will push to set aside funds to assist EV purchases and weatherize homes, as well as switch to cost-saving heat pumps that can cut transportation and heating costs by up to 40%," Mrowicki shared.
Working on the House Appropriations Committee has given Mrowicki a broader view of state government. "More importantly, we make sure that every penny of taxpayer money is accounted for and every request for spending thoroughly scrutinized before an appropriation is approved. I've also learned that budgets are value statements, and we work hard — and in a bipartisan manner — to help all Vermonters. That makes these self‑inflicted wounds from Republican policies that much harder to understand," he stated.
"Because of what we’ve seen from the Trump regime, we need to be ‘Minnesota-ready’ — ready to respond to whatever Trump tries to foist on Vermonters, especially come November. The people of Minnesota showed up, stood up, and acted up. With an election coming, we need to be ready.. Whether it’s armed, masked hordes at polling places or helping those in need adversely affected by Trump policies, I am ready to stand and act with other Vermonters who say ‘No Kings’ and ‘Hands Off,’" the Putney Representative continued.
"In closing, I am ready to work hard and work smart — to use my energy and experience to help keep Vermont the great place it is to live, love, work, play, and enjoy each other in our wonderful communities. It is an honor to serve the good people of Putney and Dummerston, and I look forward to continuing our efforts together for a Vermont that works for all."
— Mike Mrowicki, Candidate for the Vermont House, Windham 4 District
